Each leading listing website has a feature or two that can be useful to the seller, be it agent or owner, or those with properties for rent. The fact that many choose to follow the heard mentality, means that often high expectations from listing sites with what appears to be 100,000s of listings, and plenty of traffic, still may not bring results.
Sellers or rental owners use the international real estate listing system to offer a range of options which can be advantageous to owners in particular, who may see their property for sale appealing to the international market place rather than the national one. They offer property search faculties and usually the ability for anyone to list a property or piece of real estate, whether owner or agent.
Think about it this way, if you get 1 result from a website with 1 listing, it the equivalent of 1 result from a listing site with a million listings if the site gets 1 million visitors and the traffic over the same period is spread evenly across the board as you may expect. In fact, many sites that are locally driven, and have international sections provide little direct traffic to those international sales and rentals advertisers.
Getting value from a listing service to sell or rent properties internationally, is a mixture of cost versus results versus exposure. If potential buyers or renters look through conventional mls listing options, of which there are many, the focus on what is shown tends to be towards the national or regional market place, rather than the international property market place.
