Armenia
Officially the Republic of Armenia, the country is a landlocked mountainous one in Eurasia located between the Black and Caspian Seas. Turkey sits to the West, Georgia to the North, Azerbaian to the East and Iran to the South. Due to its location at the juncture between Eastern Europe and Western Asia, Armenia continues to have extensive connections with Europe.
Geography:
The Republic of Armenia is located in the Northeast of the Armenian Highland. Its terrain is mostly mountainous and contains fast flowing rivers and fairly few forests. Mount Ararat is the highest mountain in the region and once belonged to Armenia. It is now located in Turkey but to this day remains as a symbol to the Armenian people and appears on their national emblem.
The climate is mostly highland continental, which means Armenia experiences cold snowy Winters and dry hot Summers.
Government:
Armenia works under a presidential representative democratic republic system. The President is the Head of Government and exercises executive power, whereas legislative power is exercised by the Government and Parliament. The National Assembly is a unicameral Parliament and is controlled by a coalition of the three political parties. Its main aim is to build a parliamentary democracy based on the West.
Universal suffrage begins at the age of eighteen.
Armenia is a member of more than 40 different international organisations. These include the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the Asian Development Bank, the World Trade Organisation, the CSTO military alliance, and participate's in NATO's Partnership for Peace programme. It is also a member of the Eurasian Economic Community, La Francophonie, and the Non-Aligned Movement.

- Lake Sevan is the second largest lake in the world relative to its altitude which is 1,900 metres above sea level in the Armenian highlands.
- While the official language of Armenia is Armenian around 3/4 of the country's population also speak Russian. English is also widely used.
