Grenada is the world's
second-largest producer of nutmeg and is a significant producer of mace,
cinnamon, ginger and cloves. Grenada has one of the
fastest-growing economies in the Caribbean with high growth in
property investment and tourism.
As a result, the World
Travel and Tourism Council predict tourism growth of 5.5% per year between 2006
and 2015; high above the rate for the Caribbean as a whole. Grenada has a lush and mountainous
interior, with national parks, waterfalls, hiking trails and white sandy
beaches including the world-famous Grand Anse Beach.
The capital, St George’s, is widely considered to
be the most picturesque in the Caribbean, whilst the rest of the island remains
unspoilt in its natural beauty. Grenada’s tourist market is
supported by direct flights from the UK, USA and Continental Europe, as
well as by two downtown cruise ship terminals which received over 240,000
passengers between October 2005 and April 2006.
